Lorraine and Ed Warren started off as young artists for a living. They branched out by painting haunted houses that had been published in the newspaper. Ed would sketch the house and curious owners would peek out of their windows to see what was going on. Ed and Lorraine would offer their sketches for information on their haunted house. Eventually, The Warrens would do investigations of these homes and when this reached news stations in Boston, New York, etc. their lives would change forever.

Ed Warren died in 2006 but Lorraine continues their work. Both are/were practicing Catholics but would work with all religions. Lorraine said "In the end we are all the same". Mrs. Warren is very tolerant of other religions.

Ed would become a Demonologist during his career as a paranormal investigator. He was very good at it. Ed would ask priests if they believed in demons, devils & if they did not, he would tell them they were not real priests. The other five demonologists were Catholic Priests. Lorraine is a psychic and a clairvoyant. As a young child she could see lights around the nuns otherwise known as their auras.

Within minutes of meeting Lorraine you can tell she is a very positive person. She said that you should set goals. If you do, you will achieve them. She also stated we are here for a reason.

Also, when doing investigations you must have faith or you’re never going to be protected. A haunting happens where violence, drugs and alcohol are. They don’t take place in happy, Christian homes. Lorraine believes a lot of suicides are from people that are possessed by demonic spirits.

Lorraine was a big admirer of St. Padre Pio. He was so holy he could bilocate. He also bled wounds of stigmata for 50 years. People could see him bleed from the pulpit. His wounds would self heal. He appeared in a photograph at Amityville. Lorraine stated that she talked to him. She felt forewarned about Amityville. However, because of St. Padre Pio, she felt protected. St. Padre Pio has also appeared to Lorraine in her bedroom. She even stated she has a lock of his hair, which she did not get until after his death.

Since Lorraine was in a wheelchair, her son-in-law named Tony Spera took us downstairs. Tony prayed for each of us to have protection as we entered the basement and also forewarned us not to touch any objects. However, he did allow us to take pictures. Tony has been very active with his in-laws and their investigations, lectures, etc. for almost 20 years. Tony also told us to pray to our guardian angels for protection.

Inside the basement of the Warrens is the office of Ed Warren and his many tapes (VHS, DVD) that he made of thousands of investigations.

The below is some of the interesting things Tony was telling us. I was writing as fast as I could.

The occult room is the most haunted room in the world. It has objects from Europe, Asia, America, etc. No one is allowed in the museum between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. This is when most ghosts and demons are active. 3 a.m. is known as the witching hour. Also, objects have maimed and killed people that have touched them. Therefore, don’t challenge objects. For example, the raggedy Ann doll was challenged by a guest and she killed him. The doll had been possessed by a demon sprit not a child spirit like the previous owners of the doll had believed. Tony stated that God does not allow a child spirit to go into a doll.

A satanic book called The Book of Shadows should not be read.

Don’t ever challenge devils.

Another object in the basement was a 1933 tiger skin. The tiger has killed numerous people because it too was possessed by a demon.

Another book written by the Ed and Lorraine is titled The Devil in Connecticut. It was written in 1982. In it was a small dinosaur (approximately "12-16" in width) that walked across the floor and told the family they would die. This was also in their basement.
